The plaque below this fine Nativity, carved by Josefina
de Vasconcellos, replaces an earlier one now hidden
behind the oak panelling. It was carvedin pink-brown
marble, but here I have chosen to use the same off-white
Portland stone as the relief carving, and tint the letters
a warm
terracotta.
