An explanatory plaque to accompany
a pebble mosaic for C.N.D. Cumbria, highlighting pollution on
beaches. As a part of the overall design, each member contributed
a pebble sent by a friend from an unpolluted beach somewhere
else in the world. Hence the wording of the inscription. The
incised, white-painted letters tell of the philosophy behind
the mosaic’s construction; whilst, interleaved and embedded
in the three white underlines, the negative relief lettering
tells where the materials were sourced. The positive/negtive
technique ensures that the interleaved lines don't’get
confused.
