A darkly-beautiful poem by the late New Zealand poet, Janet Frame. Her own original layout was plainly left-aligned, but I’ve altered this so that the rhythm of the lines moves with the thoughts. Unpainted letters cut in rough-sawn Elterwater slate, the lightly-polished saw-tooth marks appearing like wood-grain.
