I’ve always admired the work of the Californian visionary artist and poet, Kenneth Patchen. This is a quote from one of his paintings: a cry from the last frontier! I’ve squashed everything into a single composition: a dense sculptural form created by packing the relief-cut letters into a tight abstract bundle, and then finely incising the surface of each letter to permit greater legibility. But I’ve always had a nagging suspicion that the “US” at the end might be read as U.S. I hope not.
