A relatively new stone with an earlier date because this
was an overseas re-interment. All of the Christian names
had to be included because this is an established local
family with many branches. But as the design progressed,
just the first and the family name assumed prime importance,
allowing a freedom with the middle names which is so often
a feature of eighteenth century headstones. I was encouraged
to pursue this decorative style, and what emerged was
a hybrid form that was both traditional and modern, and
blends well with its rural setting.
