Unpainted Welsh slate. Ambleside churchyard,
Cumbria.

A
quatrefoil shape designed to be laid in the centre of a landscaped
and planted grave. The formality of the lettering is set against
the exuberance of intertwined wild flowers and their foliage,
that draw together the linear and circular elements of the composition.
The quill pen form of the first “t” in “cartoonist”
is a playful touch that I think Larry would have approved. Memorials
don’t always have to be too solemn.
